HS Baseball: Clinton Takes Down Rantoul

Erratic pitching late allowed Clinton to get by Rantoul 7-5 in non-conference high school baseball action at Clinton High School Tuesday.

 

With the score tied at 5-5 and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, Aiden Toohill was hit by a pitch and Ryan Pine drew a walk that each scored a run to put the Maroons ahead 7-5. 

 

Clinton would hold on for its 13th win of the season, moving to 13-3 overall.

 

Pine finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Brooks Cluver was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for Clinton. Colton Walker went 1-for-4 with a double, and RBI and scored twice.

 

Preston Curtis threw six innings of relief for Mason Walker who permitted three unearned runs in an inning of work.

 

Curtis struck out three, walked two, and allowed two unearned runs on five hits.

 

The Maroons are back in action Friday when they travel to Shelbyville.
