Reminders To Be Safe On The Fourth Of July

THE 4TH OF JULY HOLIDAY IS ONE OF THE DEADLIEST EACH YEAR ON ILLINOIS ROADS.

LAST YEAR OVER THE 4TH…13 PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 875 WERE INJURED IN CAR CRASHES…MANY INVOLVING A DRUNK DRIVER. AND IF THAT DOESN’T CONVINCE YOU NOT TO DRINK AND DRIVE…I-DOT INTERIM TRAFFIC SAFETY DIRECTOR JOHN WEBBER REMINDS HOW COSTLY…AND HUMILIATING IT CAN BE TO BE STOPPED FOR D-U-I.

IF THE THREAT OF DEATH OR INJURY DOESN’T SHY YOU AWAY FROM DRINKING AND DRIVING…IDOT INTERIM TRAFFIC SAFETY DIRECTOR JOHN WEBBER SAYS THE COSTLY AND EMBARRASSING PROCESS OF BEING ARRESTED OF D-U-I SHOULD. THAT INCLUDES BEING HANDCUFFED…BROUGHT INTO THE POLICE STATIONS AND BLOWING INTO A BREATHALYZER.

STATE AND LOCAL POLICE ARE BEEFING UP THEIR PATROLS AND HOLDING ROADSIDE SAFETY CHECKS STARTING NOW THROUGH THE FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY…FOCUSING ON DRUNK DRIVERS AND THOSE NOT BUCKLED UP.
