Illinois Unemployment Down Again In May

THE STATE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FELL FOR THE NINTH MONTH IN A ROW IN MAY.

THE ILLINOIS JOBLESS RATE HIT EIGHT POINT SIX PERCENT LAST MONTH SAYS STATE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY SPOKESPERSON GREG RIVARA. THAT’S DOWN SLIGHTLY FROM APRIL…AND IN PART DUE TO GROWTH IN SOME KEY AREAS.



HE SAYS IT’S A GOOD SIGN FOR ILLINOIS.



JOB GAINS WERE ALSO SEEN IN THE EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH SERVICES SECTOR…AS WELL AS IN THE FINANCE INDUSTRY. THE NATIONAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FOR MAY CAME IN AT EIGHT POINT TWO PERCENT.
